Mary Immaculate College (MIC), founded in 1898, is a University-level College of Education and the Liberal Arts, academically linked with the University of Limerick. The College is a multi-campus institution, with a student population of over 5,000 students enrolled in undergraduate programmes in Psychology, Primary and Post-Primary Teaching, Liberal Arts, and Early Childhood Care and Education, as well as a range of postgraduate programmes at Diploma, MA and PhD levels.

Progressing to third-level is an exciting stage in your life whether you are continuing straight from school or returning to education as a mature student. Here at MIC, we provide a supportive learning community and a springboard for you to reach your full potential with 13 outstanding undergraduate degree programmes spread across the areas of Psychology, Teaching (primary and post-primary level), Liberal Arts, and Early Childhood Care and Education. The ‘MIC experience’ is unique, giving students a home away from home where you will achieve the goal of being a highly employable graduate and a well-rounded individual.

The College prides itself on its excellence in teaching, learning and research with engaging and challenging programmes. Our programmes move beyond the lecture theatre—offering opportunities for study abroad and real-life work placements—and will give you the essential skills for a vast range of careers. As well as the academic aspect, personal development and student satisfaction take priority at MIC. MIC’s undergraduate programmes are offered on centrally-located campuses with state-of-the-art facilities in Limerick city and Thurles town. All the amenities of city and town are on the doorstep, from sports and culture to shopping and socialising. Both campuses are characterised by an informal, relaxed atmosphere and friendly rapport between students and staff.

MIC THURLES

MIC Thurles is situated right at the heart of Thurles town on Cathedral Street. Though it still has its original 19th century buildings, much of the site has been completely refurbished and refitted to the highest modern standards in recent years. From the spacious, manicured grounds to the first-rate academic provision to the warm ambiance, MIC Thurles provides an ideal setting to pursue third-level study.

MIC Thurles offers seven concurrent teacher education programmes in Home Economics, Gaeilge, Mathematics, Business Studies, Theology and Religious Studies, and Accounting, as well as postgraduate programmes in Middle Leadership and Mentoring, and research opportunities in Education.
