25th Annual Trip to Tipp – Walk, Run or Cycle in aid of the National Council for the Blind of Ireland.


Our Annual Trip to Tipp takes place on Sunday 6th October 2019 now in its 25th Year – it is a well-established fixture in Ireland’s sporting calendar. The Trip to Tipp has an event suitable to pretty much anyone who is looking to get active while supporting a local event in aid of the NCBI – Working for People with Sight Loss and in memory of Lorraine Shanahan. It starts and finishes at the Ursuline Sports  Complex, Smith O’ Brien street Thurles. On offer there is a 120 km Cycle Route, 60 km Cycle Route and a 10 km Cycle route,  along with a 10 km timed Run and a 10 km Walk.

Cycling Routes:

9:30am – The Glen of Aherlow Challenge  -120KM Register online €25 Register on the day €30

10:00am Scenic Tour of Tipperary – 60KM Register online €25 Register on the day €30 * Food Stop for all Participants on these two routes  in Cashel

11:00am  Family Fun Cycle 10KM


Run/ Walk

11:00am Trip to Tipp 10KM – €10
Timed Run with Sinead Kane.
This year we will be joined on the 10km run by Visually impaired runner Sinead Kane. Sinead is a double Guinness World Record Holder. In February 2018 she broke the Guinness World Record for furthest distance for a female on a treadmill in 12 hours. Sinead is also the holder of a Guinness World Record for being the first blind person to complete a Marathon on each of the seven Continents, a feat which she completed in less than 7 days in January 2017.  She is also the first Irish female to do the world marathon challenge. Sinead and her guide runner [John] completed their first Marathon of this challenge at Union Glacier, Antarctica followed by running a Marathon in Punta Arenas (South America), Miami (North America), Madrid (Europe), Marrakech (Africa), Dubai (Asia) and finally Sydney (Oceania).


All participants on the Trip to Tipp will receive a medal and certificate of completion.

Refreshments and Showers will be provided  for all participants after each route in the Ursuline Sports Complex, Thurles

Last years Trip raised €25, 614 and all funds raised went directly to the NCBI-Working for people with Sight Loss
