calling all primary and secondary school students!

We are delighted to announce our latest competition for primary and secondary schools to celebrate the Munster Fleadh being held in Thurles this July. Teachers, principals and parents/guardians – we would like you to get your students and kids involved and submit your entries by showing off their musical talents, captivating their audience with the magic of storytelling, dancing the day away or drawing up a storm!

There are two age groups – one for primary and one for secondary schools. Out of all entries, the top 5 posts from each age group will be chosen as our finalists.

how do you get involved?

step one

Get creating! The Fleadh celebrates all things musical and we want your masterpieces to reflect that. Entries can include, singing, playing your musical instruments, dancing, art or even the spoken word!

step two

Tag thurles.ie and use the #MyMunsterFleadh hashtag. Please include the school and year group in the caption to validate your entry.

step three

Get liking and sharing! Be sure your posts are public so that our team can re-share and see your amazing entries.

All entries must be published on official school accounts OR posted publicly by the students parent/guardian. If posts are tagged, are using the hashtag and open to the public, Thurles.ie will re-share to our official accounts. Thurles.ie do not take any responsibility for public posting and re-sharing. This competition is limited to primary and post-primary schools in Thurles and surrounding areas only so please include your school name and class year in submissions. Failure to do so may invalidate your entry.

The top 5 finalists for primary and top 5 for secondary schools will be chosen based on engagement i.e. likes, shares and comments for each entry. Winning votes to get into the top 5 for each category will be determined by the combined engagement on the original post. 

Entries will close on Friday, 3rd May at 4pm. The announcement of the top 5 for both age groups will be on Wednesday, 8th of May. The voting for the winners will be completed via poll on this page. Note that engagement on our official, school or personal social media accounts WILL NOT count towards final winning tally’s and only votes placed on the polls will be valid.

Voting will close Wednesday 15th of May with winners announced Friday 17th of May. Note we will not ask for any banking details and winners will be contacted by our official accounts ONLY to arrange collection of prizes.
