Supporting people with Down Syndrome through loss & grief
Grief and loss are difficult supporting children, teenagers and adults with Down Syndrome to express BIG emotions is critical in the development of coping skills helping them to navigate those difficult inevitable life events.
Supported by the Irish Hospice Foundation, Down Syndrome Tipperary in conjunction with the Dwan Academy and Springhouse Therapy have developed a play/drama-based therapy workshop called “The Invisible String”.
Down Syndrome Tipperary and Irish Hospice Foundation are eager to showcase the learnings, outcomes and advances made with the “The Invisible String” and bring it to a wider audience in a conference style event. The conference and open forum is an opportunity for parents/carers, teachers, health professional to understand the learnings that we have gained from “The Invisible String” workshop and in turn what was learned can be used in other organisations and in family life.
