A visit to Semple Stadium in Thurles, the largest sporting arena in Ireland outside of Croke Park, Dublin, is an exciting experience for any visitor interested in Ireland’s sporting heritage. Many visitors will have attended epic games in the iconic venue and will have an opportunity to experience the pleasure of walking on the hallowed sod of this Field of Legends. Come and experience the story of Gaelic Games through the ages from pre-historical times and particularly since the foundation of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) in the town in 1884. To see our impressive collection of memorabilia includes hurleys and jerseys worn with pride and distinction by famous players, as well as medals won by star hurlers and footballers, and trophies presented for championships and competitions at home and abroad.

The Source is a beautifully designed, modern building on the banks of the River Suir. It houses a 250 seater Theatre, Gallery Space, Library and Café.

Tipperary Studies is dedicated to documenting and preserving the County’s rich cultural, social, economic and sporting histories, and aims to offer open, friendly and easy access to the Library’s collections to visitors both in person and through correspondence including our dedicated online digital archive and lecture series.

Cabragh Wetlands Trust was registered in 1993 in an effort to save a vast area of wetland habitats from destruction after the filling-in of the settling pools by the Thurles Sugar Factory during its closure.

Holycross Abbey is a restored medieval monastery - an outstanding example of wonderful architecture, art, myth, legend and historic life.
farney castle
The historic Farney Castle, built in 1495 and remodelled in 1800, is the home of Irish International designer, Cyril Cullen and his family.

Cormackstown Heritage Centre is situated near Holycross, Co Tipperary, and houses one of the largest collections of rural memorabilia to be found anywhere in in Ireland today, containing artefacts spanning three centuries.
